There are various types of customized industrial water, from raw water to ultrapure water. The ultrapure water is used for cleaning water such as semiconductor and LCD industries, and it is important to predict water quality. It is possible to predict the quality of the individual processes through computer simulation. However, it is difficult to find cases of domestic and international studies on the prediction of the final water quality of ultrapure water.
To predict the water quality of ultrapure water, understand the characteristics of the process and configure the process. In addition, the final water quality should be predicted based on the combination of processes, which may change.
A computer simulation program is needed to predict the water quality in UPW. Water quality and quantity should be considered when making computer simulation. First, analyze the water quality of raw water and check the target water quality. Optimal processes shall be selected according to the quality of water, and logic for process selection is required. When the process is completed, the incoming quantity and the final water quality considering the design characteristics shall be predicted.
When the simulation is completed, an ultrapure water process for semiconductors is established to predict the final water quality. Semiconductor grade ultrapure-fine water quality is D5127 E-1.3 in ASTM, which is the highest level of ultrapure water quality. When the target water quality is selected, a simulation is used to select the process, predict the final water quality, and compare it with the semiconductor water quality.
