| Experimental Field Control Method of Nuisance Filamentous Cladophora glomerata in a Natural Stream (Wangpi) |

Cladophora glomerata (CG) is a worldwide nuisance alga of natural and man-made water bodies (Park, 2018). Recently, the Wangpi Stream (WPS) has been thickly covered by CG, which is close to above 90% from late spring to early summer (just before floods by monsoon or typhoon) in each year, and as a result, the local civil complaints about the countermeasures are serious. The WPS has been designated as an ecological landscape conservation area (ELCA) due to its enviable forest environment. Therefore, a new approach is needed because it is difficult to use the mitigation methods (e.g., mechanical removal, chemical treatment, biomanipulation) suggested from previous researches under field conditions. This study introduces the results tested using the field materials such as sand and gravel to control CG growth. |
