Namgangdam Reservoir (NGDR, so-called Jinyang Reservoir) is a typical man-made lake, located
in the middle-lower parts of the Nam River, and it is also one of the large impounded reservoir
systems in the Nakdong River, Korea. NGDR currently faces the dual challenge of successfully
performing the necessary tasks such as flood control, hydropower generation, and water supply,
while at the same time minimizing the negative environmental impacts such as prolongation of an
alert issuance by the cyanobacterial harmful algae blooms (CyanoHABs). This study analyzed the
growth and alarm issuance of CyanoHABs in terms of reservoir management rules.
