Ever since the Paris agreement in 2015, Korea will have to reduce the greenhouse gas emission by 37% than BAU (Business As Usual) until 2030. In order to comply with the Paris agreement, overall Korean industry is seeking a way to reduce the greenhouse gas emission effectively. To this end, seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) and pressure retarded osmosis (PRO) have been regarded as alternative breakthroughs that can compensate the shortage of fresh water and energy. However the effects of SWRO and PRO on the climate change were barely researched, even in the academic field. In this context, the relations between the processes and CO2emission magnitude were simulated using machine learning in order to clarify the effects of SWRO and PRO on the climate change. The emission magnitude of CO2was predicted based on the energy consumption of the processes and the current energy consumption data thereof were acquired from the cases of California and EU. The results of current study might be applied to the economic evaluation of each process in the future. |
