In Korea, a number of small-scale decentralized sewage treatment plants(S-DSTP) exceeding water quality standards is 2 to 5 times higher than that of medium/large centralized sewage treatment plants (M/L-CSTPs). The reasons why these results coming out are the most of S-DSTPs are located far from residential areas and it difficult to manage on-site visits due to poor technology and experts. This research was intended to enable stable operation of S-DSTPs by developing and auto-monitoring indicators that can rapidly check the status of S-DSTP, which is difficult for experts to visit and manage. In order to propose the new monitoring index (it called performance prediction index, PPI) for S-DSTP, short-term settleability test (SV10) and respirometry algorithm were developed and compared with conventional methodology (SV30, SVI). The results showed that the PPI could improve accuracy (RMSE 0 ~ 5.0) and reduce the measurement time by one third compared to the conventional methodology. |
