In 2013, approximately, 6,086m3/d of biosolids waste produced in Korea. The various types of pretreatment process for excess biosolids from sewage treatment plants have been developed and constructed. In recent year, anaerobic digestion process has been adapted for the treatment of excess biosolids in Korea. However, due to the legal requirements, there is a need for new biosolids reduction process on a number of existing anaerobic digestion process. A subject of biosolids reduction has become a great deal of concerns among researchers in the country. Thermal pretreatment process is a suitable method to treat highly concentrated organic compounds including excess sludge, and night soil. The various types of pretreatment process for excess sludge as biosolids have been developed and constructed. The most effective technology of these is thermal hydrolysis process(THP). It is considered as a pretreatment technique to improve biosolids properties because of the solubilization of particulate organics and promotion of bio-degradation. |
