In these days, the increased uncertainty of water resources has led to various ways of water management efforts. Meanwhile, as the concerns on water resources are increasing, the more attentions are given to evaluate the impacts on aquatic ecosystem induced by water management. Furthermore, understanding the ecological features of downstream watershed and coastal areas has been considered to be essential to evaluate these urgent and significant environmental issues under the present changing water management regime as well as the global concerns on coastal ecosystem resilience. This study was intended to suggest the suitable interdisplinary approach on land-ocean connectivity by reviewing the case studies of watersheds connected to coastal bays. This paper addresses that the sustainable water utilization could be possible by performing water management based on the sound understanding of environmental features of coastal ecosystems. |
