The objective of this study is to investigate Synedra which is responsible for the filter blockage. A bench-scale and full-scale testing were set up to investigate the effects of pre-oxidation (chlorine, ozone, KMnO4) and coagulant-aid (polyamine). As a result, when 1.5 mg/L of preozonation and 40 mg/L of PACS were used, the maximum removal was 98.5% for Synedra sp. When 3.0 mg/L of polyamine and 40 mg/L of PACS were used, the maximum removal was 97.4% for Synedra sp. When 3.0 mg/L of pre-chlorination and 40 mg/L of PACS were used, the maximum removal was 39.7% for Synedra sp. Also when 0.5 mg/L of KMnO4 and 40 mg/L of PACS were used, the maximum removal was 53.4% for Synedra sp. But as increasing of contact time of KMnO4, Synedra sp. removal rate was increased. The maximum removal rate was 98.2% at 2 hour of the contact time. |
