Hi-tech industry such as semiconductor, solar panel, and LCD display requires high purity
water for their product manufacture. The requirement of Ultrapure water(UPW) for the advanced
industry filed is increase with restrict water quality. In order to meet the water quality criteria
for UPW production. It is necessary to apply a number of unit processes such as RO(Reverse
Osmosis), IX(Ion Exchange), UV(Ultraviolet) process. Generally 6 to 25 unit processes are
applied for the UPW system. Thus, there are a lot of alternative combination for the unit process.
Thus, the optimization of the unit process combination can lead to reduce UPW production cost
such as Electric, Chemical consumption and wastewater discharge.
. The production capacity of the UPW pilot plant tested in this study was 25 m3/day. The plant
process consist of approximately 20 unit process. All the possible unit process combination were
performed with pilot plant to determine the water quality as well as economical cost.
