Sand filtration is one of the key steps in the purification of drinking water, especially when using surface source water, but blockage of the filter often occurs in drinking water treatment plants(Jun et al., 2001). Many studies have found that algae have important roles in the blockage of sand filter, and blockage by large algae that could dramatically shorten the filter run time has been a challenge for the operation of sand filters in WTP(Ferris et al., 2007). |
