In recent years, water-related natural disasters such as droughts and floods due to climate change around the world is constantly increasing. According to data from the World Bank announced in August it showed that natural disasters increased four-fold over the last 30 years. As a result, damage over the world occurred from 1980 to 2013 is estimated to reach about 350 billion dollars. Korea also have been hit by natural disasters steadily each year and caused damage of 1.5 billion dollars per year. This amounts to approximately 1.4% of the national GDP. About 2.5 billion dollars per year spent to repair natural disaster. |
