| A State-of-the-Art Review of the Floating Photovoltaic System in Korea |

Korean government decided to introduce RPS system which requires electricity providers to increase gradually the amount of renewable energy in 2012. In order to fulfill the government target through RPS system, electricity providers in Korea installed various types of new and renewable energy resources such as biomass, wind, solar, etc. Recently, interest of the floating photovoltaic (PV) system as one of the most pleased alternatives is increased in Korea. In this paper, we discussed the researches relating to the floating PV system and the installation of the floating PV power plant in Korea. Up to date, many floating PV power plants were installed in Korea and a number of plans for installation of the floating PV power plants by many organizations including government funded companies with various generation capacities are underway. Such trends are expected to continue due to government’s RPS system. |
