Water Hazard Information Platform in Korea (WHAP) research group started the research project named ‘Development of Technology for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Prediction of Global and Local Water Related Disaster Using Various Observation System’ in July 2014. This project is supported by a grant from water management research program funded by ministry of land, infrastructure and transport of Korean government. WHAP research group aims to develop water related disaster (drought, flood, dry stream, etc.) monitoring, assessment and prediction technology using various observation system such as satellite, radar (include X-Net) and AWS (automatic weather station). The second target is to develop a portal system and its base technology to provide information and analysis for water security reinforcement and water hazard mitigation. Four detail research contents will be performed during next 4years to achieve the objectives. The first contents is hydrological information production and prediction technology based on the X-Net. The second research contents is drought and dry stream assessment and prediction technology. The third one is customized flood estimation and forecast technology. Lastly, global and local water information service platform technology based on big data. |
