Plate heat exchanger is usually used to exchange heat between raw water and brine and to prevent fouling in the raw water source heat pump system because raw water includes foreign substances occasionally. After the system was operated for long time, coarse substances was filtered by a strainer and fine substances was accumulated on the one side of the heat exchanger for raw water. The other side of the heat exchanger keeps clean because any substance can’t penetrate in the closed brine loop. Due to the fouling, the pressure difference for raw water loop is increased and the flow rate is decreased, and the consumed electric power for a raw water pump might be increased. In this study, the heat exchanger was cleaned by high-pressure water and chemicals, and the cleaning effect has been investigated for various pumping operating conditions with an inverter motor system. |
