Geosmin showed better adsorption than MIB on GAC in the presence of NOM
? NOM in water significantly decreased the adsorption capacity of GAC for 2-MIB
removal. Ozone pretreatment reduced the NOM influence for 2-MIB removal using
GAC adsorption.
? Two typo of GAC (RO 0.8 and F-400) observed similar adsorption capacity for
removal of 2-MIB and geosmin.
? After ozonation, the aromaticity was significantly decreased while the molecular
weight was not much affected. Aromaticity decreased due to oxidation of the
functional groups of NOM
? Consequently, reducing the competitive NOM’s hydrophobicity led to an increased
removal of 2-MIB by GAC adsorption.
