The algae removal by KMWH technology was investigated in this paper. KMWH is an extracted mixture from plants and minerals. It is tested in various field conditions from 300 m3 to 500,000 m3 capacity shallow eutrophic lake and reservoirs. KMWH can remove the algae by flotation after coagulation without any secondary contamination and showed no toxicity in the water environment. After treatment with KMWH the water quality of the test beds was extremely improved. The average removal percentage of chlorophyll-a and biomass of plankton was over 87%. KMWH exhibit also remarkable removal of T-N, T-P. The regrowth inhibition of tannic acid on algal biomass was maintained over 100 days after treatment. Odor compound 2-MIB and algal toxin Microcystin-LR, Microcystin-YR was also reacted with KMWH and the removal percentage was over 37%. |
