Various improvement methods for uniform flow rate at each nozzel of a surface cleaning pipe system, installed in a filtration basin of a water treatment plant, have been investigated by numerical simulations. The insertion of orifices between the flanges was considered to keep the existing pipe system and to reduce the cost of improvement. The CFD simulations have been performed for various test cases. It has been found that for the improvement case the pump head is increased by 0.27 m and the standard deviation of the flow rate for all nozzles is improved from 4.7% to 4.0%. |
