An 800g-tonne capacity, 8.0m platform radius geotechnical centrifuge which is one of the largest in
the world has been installed at K-water Institute, Daejeon, Korea in 2012 and the details and applications are introduced in this paper. Maximum 8000kg testing model can be loaded in 2.0m×2.0m×2.0m large platform for physical model tests to be accelerated up to 100g, and the maximum centrifugal acceleration is 150g with reduced payload mass. The centrifuge is equipped with various interfaces and fundamental equipment to accommodate general physical model tests. For seismic performance evaluations of large earth structures, a large scale in-flight earthquake simulator has been developed together. This servo-hydraulic system is one of the largest and strongest in-flight shaker for geotechnical centrifuge. The overviews of major equipment as well as experimental activities of the centrifuge facility are provided in this paper.
