Silt density index(SDI) has been used as a fouling index for RO processes for decades because of simple measurement method even though it cannot predict exactly the fouling potential. However, recently a multiple membrane array system (MMAS) has been proposed as an alternative of SDI. In MMAS, the fouling potential of feed water containing micron-size particle, submicron-size colloids, and organic foulants are evaluated by measuring the membrane fouling index(MFI) in series for the MF, UF, and NF membranes. The resulting three MFI values are Particle(P)-MFI, Colloid(C)-MFI, and Organic(O)-MFI. In this study, the performance of AMF which is pre-treatment process for BWRO process of D industrial water treatment plant was evaluated by MMAS. |
