For the rehabilitation of Namgang hydropower plant, new bulb turbine has been developed by CFD simulations. In order to confirm the performance of the newly developed turbine, the small-scale model turbine shown in Fig. 1 has been manufactured. The diameter of the model runner blade is reduced to 350 mm from 3.0 m of the prototype one. The rotational power from a runner is transferred to an electric magnetic dynamometer through bevel gear, and the rotational speed is measured by a magnetic tachometer. For the torque measurement a static hydraulic bearing system is installed in the bulb, and the torque can be measured by force transducer connected with a static hydraulic bearing. The test has been conducted at the head between 3.4 m and 7.2 m and Reynolds number is 5.88×106 which shall meet the requirement of IEC 60193[1]. Various tests for efficiency, runaway speed, cavitation, and so on, has been carried out, and the model hill chart and correlation between runner blades and guide vanes has been obtained. |
