This study was conducted on developing the electric heating equipment for deep soil improvement. Electric heat pipe of 4.0m length was installed under the ground(3.5m ~ 6.5m). Electric heating was performed 96 hours. The variation of temperature and vapor pressure caused by electric heating was measured with a thermometer and a pressure gauge which installed in the ground(5.0m). Due to the non-homogeneous character of the ground, heat did not transfer uniformly. In addition, the heat transfer was caused by water vapor. After electrical heating, variation of soil strength was measured though the CPT test. As a result, tip resistance was increased but uniform behavior of sleeve friction was not measured. On the other hand, pore pressure was reduced because water content has been reduced by electrical heating. |
