Thirteen selected pharmaceuticals were selected as target compounds for the experiment. The removal performance of pharmaceuticals was evaluated in pellet softening. The removal rate of pharmaceuticals was under about 20%. There was no main rejection mechanism of pharmaceuticals by pellet softening. It is expected that some of pharmaceuticals were rejected by absorption. The rejection rate was from 60 to 90% according to physical/chemical properties at a pH 7 in NF process [Katsuki et al (2004)]. In this study, the performance of NF process was evaluated in pH 9 because of the pretreatment of pellet softening. The rejection rate of the most substances was from 97 to 98% ant a pH 9. There for pharmaceuticals was highly rejected in NF process. The negative charge was formed on surface of polyamide (PA) in high pH. This fact leads to the increase of removal rate. |
