The floating photovoltaic system is a new concept in energy technology to
meet the needs of the times. The system integrates existing land based
photovoltaic technology with a newly developed floating photovoltaic
technology. The system is comprised of modules, buoyant objects, etc., and is
able to withstand drastic changes in water depth and wind strength. As such,
the floating photovoltaic system is much different from traditional photovoltaic
systems built on land such as BIPV(Building Integrated Photovoltaic System).
K-water(Korea Water Resources Corporation) has already completed two
floating photovoltaic systems that able to generate 100kW and 500kW
respectively. A third photovoltaic system, with a generation capacity of 8MW,
will be under construction. Meanwhile, K-water is developing a tracking-type
floating photovoltaic system to increase generation efficiency more than a
general floating photovoltaic system. In this paper, we design and
implementate model test installation of a tracking floating photovoltaic system
in Daecheong Dam.
