The capacitive de-ionization(CDI) concentrate generated in the tertiary treatment process of municipal wastewater is characterized of low organic matters and high nitrogen ions. For treatment of CDI concentrate, the bio-electrochemical system (BES) consisted of abio-anode and bio-cathode and was supplied cell voltage. In this research, reactor supplied of 1.5 voltages was the optimum condition of the nitrogen removal efficiency, the nitrate removal rate was 0.38 mg/cm2/d with synthetic wastewater and 1.05 mg/cm2/d with CDI concentrate. As a result, it was assumed that the bio-cathode BES could be applied for RO and CDI concentrate of low organics and high concentration of nitrate at low cell voltage. In order to increase the removal rate and efficiency, BESs need to improvement to the configuration and electrode materials. |
