The Lake Sihwa watershed includes industrial, urban, and rural areas simultaneously, and therefore the watershed has complex characteristics compared with common watershed having more simple land use type. In this study, we analyzed the spatial-temporal runoff patterns of non-point sources at representative sites having different land use in the watershed, and estimated runoff characteristics of non-point source pollution from watershed of Lake Sihwa. To characterize the runoff pattern of non-point pollutants in relation with land use type in sub-basin, intensive monitoring was carried out during the rainfall events in 2009. The 4TG (industrial area) showed rapid discharges of highly concentrated pollutants during the early stages of a storm event. Approximately 50% or more of the pollutant load at MFF30 was included in the initial rainfall runoff. Thus, it has been suggested that a reduction of pollutant loads during the early stages of a storm is the key point for reducing pollutants runoff from urban area to the lake. |
