In South Korea, a total of 16 weirs were constructed last 4 years by four major river restoration project, and Sangju weir is one of them. In this study, we estimated role of nature-like fishway (length: 700m, slope: 1/100) for fish habitat by calculating optimal ecological flowrate using two dominant species in Sangju weir in the Nakdong River. To identify dominant species using fishway, trap monitoring was conducted from August to November, 2012 at the exit part of fishway. Dominant species were was Zacco platypus (Relative abundance, 62.1%) and Opsariichthys uncirostric amurensis (35.9%), and habitat suitability index (HSI) for these specie were calculated. Optimal HSI of Z. platypus and O. u. amurensis were 0.6-0.8 m/sec (velocity) and 0.2-0.4 m (depth), and 0.5-0.7 m/sec (velocity) and 0.1-0.3 m (depth), respectively. The optimal ecological flowrate using Physical Habitat Simulation System (PHABSIM) for Z. platypus and O. u. amurensis were 1.6CMS and 1.7CMS, respectively. |
