Safety monitoring levees can be a one way it is possible to obtain information necessary to protect life and property of the public from the destruction of the levee. Although risk of levee collapse accidents caused by system instability and flooding decreased significantly in the major river section of the countries in 4-River refurbishment project in the country, the safety of the levee has been further emphasized. River improvement project by four major river restoration project has led to changes in the flow width of the water level in the upstream and downstream of the river embankment and environmental changes in existing the hydraulic structure sand the levee. In Korea, we have been striving to build a monitoring management system overall for the safety of the levee due to these changes. The Yulji levee (Figure1) close to Hapcheon-Changnyeong weir of the Nakdong River, has been monitoring by installing an instrument of 26 kinds, which 10
pore water pressure measuring devices, 10 temperature measuring instruments, 4 groundwater level instruments has been in operation.
