Today, the power utilities are setting on the slow load growth and the aging of power
equipment, and then could spend the efforts on the stability of system performance. Under
structure of vertically integrated power industry, great cost has been spent to enhancing
reliability of such power utilities. Also considerable efforts have been devoted to risk
assessment of power system. This paper presents a method of the risk assessment for the
power equipment. The important aim of the risk assessment is to develop an asset
management model that combine results from the different tests and give an overall decisionmaking
for asset management. This paper shows the application of advance asset
management considering the risk assessment for power equipment. The primary goal of this
research is to develop a standard algorithm for an efficient replacement of equipment of
power system owned and operated by power utility. The proposed method will be expected to
play an important role in investment decision making considering the risk assessment.
