Water that played a pivotal Role in Korea’s Economic Growth
From one of the poorest countries in the world to a country with the world’s 11th largest economic powers, Korea has come a long way. The figure below well describes the economic development of Korea in terms of GNI per person. One of the main drivers behind that exceptionally fast growth was the well planned government’s indicative development plans, namely ‘the 5 year Economic Development Plan’ and ‘the 10 year National Territorial Development Plan’. Particularly during the period between the 1960s and 1980s, a combination of these 2 plans had played a significant role in achieving growth in national economy.
