The prediction model results are easy to interpret and can be used in the design of biological filters or for the assessment of currently operating biological filters. The prediction model allows for water treatment plants to optimize their treatment train to remove trace organic pollutants depending on changing water conditions. The model facilitates the classification of trace organic pollutants by their biodegradation potential under a range of biofilter configurations. These classifications were compared to existing models developed for other applications. |
