Generally, most of WWTP(Wastewater Treatment Plant) has been used biological
process. Biological processes depends on the availability of sufficient quantities of oxygen. Therefore,
sufficient oxygen supplied at the reactor to meet demand. According to ‘Wastewater treatment
facility operating status report(Ministry of environment, 2010)’, electricity cost occupies second place
of WWTP operation cost. About 40% of electricity was used by blower operation. Make an effort to
reduce blower power by increasing oxygen transfer rate. Fine bubble has been widely used in the
aeration process and it makes high oxygen transfer rate. Most of the fine bubble aerator is a
membrane type. Resistance is generated when it makes fine bubble. Electricity consumption is due
to resistance. Low resistance aerator can be saved blower power by reducing resistance and also
has similar oxygen transfer rate. The result of experiment, low resistance aerator can be applied at
WWTP and saved 25% blower power compared of membrane type aerator.
