The regulation imposed on discharge water from water treatment plant in Korea will be lowered up to 10 mg/L in SS (suspended solid) by 2013. Considering the current level of discharge water (i.e., 20 mg/L), it is required to install additional facility or retrofit old facility to cope with this. MF/UF membrane process was one of technical candidate to treat effluent water from conventional gravitational sedimentation and needed to estimate its feasibility. MF/UF membrane process exceptionally removes particulate matters and is widely spread into drinking water treatment. Adding coagulant was beneficial to suppress fouling. The content of organic material and manganese also affected the system stability. In case of coagulant (PACl) injection for the enhancement of membrane treatment efficiency, the lessening of TMP rise value appeared at the effluent water of all the water treatment plants applied to this test. Particularly, even at BS Plant and JI Plant where precipitation after mixing and coagulation was not fine due to low SUVA values, the lessening of TMP rise was identified to be a lot. |
