Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) is the one of the most widely used processes for controlling organic compounds, in water supplies. A number of surrogate parameters are used to describe the adsorption capacity of activated carbon. The iodine number measures the amount of iodine that will adsorb under a specified set of conditions, and it generally correlates well with the surface area available for small molecules. This study is to evaluate the effect of iodine number for the dissolved organic matter removal by GAC. |
