During the four river restoration project one of the main issues has been the heavy metals leaching from the soils and the sediments by dredging. In this study SRM 1646a was chosen to verify the leaching characteristics of heavy metal from SRM of which the total heavy metal contents were known. As a result the leachings of heavy metals were easily occurred in lower pH conditions but the leaching amounts were relatively very small to the total amounts of heavy metals in SRM 1646a. At the relatively high and neutral pH conditions leachings of heavy metals were hardly occurred. It is known that river water is has neutral pH value ranged from 5 to 8. Even if the tatal contents of river soils and sediments is high, it is expected that leachings of heavy metals from soil and sediment in river are hardly occurred. |
