Hydropower is a mature technology developed since more than 100 years. Furthermore, small hydropower is estimated as eco-friendly energy with low carbon dioxide emissions. But in Korea, the lack of facilities and technical criteria for the performance test of small hydropower degrades the efficiency of the domestic small hydropower turbine, and makes it difficult to objectively evaluate the performance of hydro turbine. Therefore Korean institute of water and environment in K-water planned constructing a basis of performance test of small hydropower by using our flowmeter calibration system the largest one in Korea. To evaluate the performance of small hydropower equipment, ability to drive hydropower and dynamometer to absorb the power must be established. We are constructing the optimized performance test system by studying and adapting the driving ability and dynamometer. |
