In Korea, many reservoirs were constructed on the rivers for flood control, municipal and agrcultural water supply. As a result, river ecosystem has been destroryed by changing the water flow and by disconnecting the habitat between upper and down rivers. In this study we introduce a new project providing fish habitat in Lake Soyang with a wide water level fluctuation. Floating spawning ground, artificial reefs, two types of riverside reservoir are planed to provide the habitat for fished at 11 sites in Lake Soyang. Its total cost is 1.7 billion won(about 1.3 million dollars). The fish protection facilities are devised considering the water fluctuation and fish species. |
