The membrane system was developed with automatic operation and data acquisition to allow for prolonged and continuous operation to imitate full-scale operation. Fouling indices were determined based on cake and intermediate pore blocking models at constant flux. Raw and coagulated surface water from a local water treatment plant were tested. Both cake filtration and intermediate pore blocking models described the operating data equally well. The impact of model nitrogen compounds on membrane fouling are also presented. |
