The numerical modeling results of horizontal collector well are presented and the available pumping values in RBF intake are estimated from the modeling. The numerical modeling uses 1-D discrete element feature (Diersch, 2004) included in commercial groundwater modeling software FEFLOW and the validity of 1-D discrete element feature was confirmed by previous study (Kim, 2008). It is revealed that the available pumping values in RBF intake using horizontal collector well system depend on the offset distance between stream shore line and well system. Also, the drawdown which is limited by thickness of aquifer and infiltration capacity (transfer rate) from river affects the amount of available pumping in RBF intake. This study shows results of many cases which are varies in offset distance, aquifer thickness and infiltration capacity. |
