The accumulated dust and dirt, namely non-point-sources pollutant, in an urban catchment is discharged into sewer system with storm water and the runoff flow which exceeds the capacity of storm sewer is overflowed and eventually discharged into river system. This overflowed storm water contains high concentration of pollutant, such as surface pollutants and sediment in sewer and untreated sewer. In addition, the rising of sediment is one of the key factors to the high concentration of storm sewer overflow. This study investigates the dominant parameters of storm sewer overflows. The parts of Cheongju and Boeun catchment are selected for measurement of overflow water quality and quantify. The event-mean-concentrations (EMCs) of observed storm events were calculated. The dominants parameters from literature review and EMCs were considered in factor analysis to develop regression equation for the concentration of storm sewer overflow. |
