Simplification and Application of Large Volume Sampler for Routine Monitoring |

The Large volume extraction system based on polyurethane foam (PUF) for the field extraction was simplified for routine monitoring of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs) in drinking water treatment plant. After pre-test for the whole system, validation for simplified large volume sampler (SLV) was performed. The flow rate was tested triplicates between 1 L/min, 2 L/min, and 3 L/min, respectively. Accuracy as a recoveries of the absorption parts against 1~3 L/min were 86-96 %, 80-110 %, and 93-107 %, respectively. Precision as a relative standard deviation (RSD) for the tested flow rates was 5.1 %, 15.3 %, and 7.5 %, respectively. This indicates that similar results are expected between 1-3 L/min in field extraction using PUF-type large volume sampler. SLV system showed that reduced size/maintenance, extraction time and solvent wastes compare to the other LV system adopting the same PUF plugs. |
