Angat Hydropower Project
The Angat Dam, completed in 1967, is a multipurpose dam located on Luzon Island, Philippines, in Bulacan Province. This dam supplies 97% of the water for Metro Manila and serves as an essential water source for Metro Manila and surrounding areas, supporting agricultural, domestic, and industrial water needs, as well as playing a critical role in flood control and power generation.
K-water secured the hydropower project of Angat Dam and took over the management of power generation previously handled by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) of the Philippines. Since 2020, K-water has been modernizing the aging facilities, which are over 58 years old, to produce up to 254.4 MW per day, contributing to the stability of the Philippines' power supply.
K-water's expertise in the specialized management of hydropower facilities has been a key factor in the success of the Angat Dam project. Leveraging the infrastructure and opportunities identified through the Angat Dam project, K-water plans to gradually expand its business in the Philippines and actively export its smart operational management technologies to the global market.

Development of AI-Based Flood Forecasting and Warning System in the Laoag river basin, Philippines
The AI-Based Flood Forecasting and Warning System Project in the Laoag River is a collaborative initiative between South Korea and the Philippines aimed at enhancing flood preparedness through digital technologies. The Laoag River basin, located in northern Luzon, is highly vulnerable to typhoons and heavy rainfall, leading to frequent flooding. This project seeks to improve disaster resilience by implementing a smart early warning system that provides timely and accurate flood forecasts.
Key components include real-time hydrological monitoring, automated flood alerts, and IoT-based water level sensors. By integrating AI-driven data analysis and predictive modeling, the system enhances flood forecasting accuracy, allowing authorities to take proactive measures. This technology will help mitigate flood risks, minimize damage, and protect local communities.
This initiative is expected to serve as a model for flood management in the Philippines. Its successful implementation in the Laoag River basin could lead to further adoption across other flood-prone areas, strengthening national disaster preparedness and enhancing cooperation between the Philippines and South Korea in climate resilience and smart infrastructure.
