Water resource facilities such as multi-purpose dams, flood control dams in Korea were built
intensively from 1970 to 1980. For monitoring these dams safety, fesibility study on time-series
stability analysis of water resource structures such as dams and embankments using satellite
SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) Interferometry technique are being attempted. The PS-InSAR
(Permanant Scatterer-Interferometry SAR) technique uses the PS (permanant scatterer) for water
resource facilities with relatively high coherence in the InSAR image. InSAR method can be
improved to mm sensitivity of displacement analysis. In addition, since time-seires InSAR pairs
are generated, there is an advantage in that DEM errors, satellite orbit errors, and delay errors due
to atmospheric components can be more precisely removed (Ferretti et al., 2001). In this case
study, PS-InSAR method was applied using Sentinel-1 SLC (Single Look Complex) satellite data
obtained from September 2014 to September 2020 for dam safety monitoring of water resource
facilities. Time-series displacement analysis was performed on the LOS (Line-Of-Sight) direction
of domestic water resource facilities such as Soyanggang Dam, Yeongju Dam, and Yeongam
Geumho Embankment. In the future, using both SAR satellite data including Water resource
satellite(CAS500-5; Compact Advanced Satellite 500-5) of ascending and descending orbits, we
plan to perform comparison with GPS observation data and accuracy verification through vertical
and horizontal displacement analysis.
