As a holistic approach to groundwater, sustainability considers the hydrological, ecological, socioeconomic, technological aspects of groundwater utilization, the exploitable groundwater shouldbe determined by physical analysis as well as social compromise in a community. In this work, anintegrated surface-groundwater model, SWAT-MODFLOW was used to analyze the change ofhydrological components due to various groundwater pumping scenarios in Mihocheon watershed,South Korea. When a total amount of abstraction at 104mm, which is slightly smaller than the currentpermissible groundwater abstraction by law, the change in the storage was ?16mm. This value, whichcorresponds to 33% of the annual recharge, could be suggested as an exploitable amount ofgroundwater to the governance of the Cheongju city, Korea. |
