Ozone (O3) is a strong oxidant and disinfectant used both in drinking water and wastewatertreatment. During application, it also reacts with water to create highly reactive hydroxyl radicalswhich react with target compounds. Identification of oxidized transforms of PPCP in treatedwater is important issue. Iopromide, one of the most popular X-ray contrasts, its removal rates infull scale water treatment process including ozone was 38% [1]. In this study removal propertiesand identification of byproducts of iopromide in ozone and activated carbon (GAC) process usingreal water sample was investigated. Experimental condition for ozone was set as following; Initialiopromide conc. : 50 μg/L, ozone inject conc.: 2 mg/L, contact time: 0 to 24hr, initial pH: 7.4.LC-MS analysis was done by Orbitrap high resolution mass spec. with 50,000 resolution with3ppm mass accuracy. After 15 min ozone treatment, intensity of iopromide was decreased. However, proportion of low mass spectrum and m/z 717.84 was significantly increased in 24hr.Structural elucidation on m/z 717.84 was proposed as above (Fig. 1). Dehydroxylated forms aremost possible transformed structure. After blank sample subtraction, additional structuralelucidations of selected low mass spectrum were proposed. |
