Background
- "Water Resources Systematic Management Plan" was approved by the National Policy Coordination Committee on September 24, 2015.
- The committee decided to implement a national drought forecast and warning system and create the National Drought Information Analysis Center for a preemptive response.
- It is a system that analyzes the status of and prospect for drought by region, enabling national and local governments and the public to respond to drought.

- Sept 24, 2015 : National Policy Coordination Committee decided to introduce the national drought forecast and warning system.
- Nov 27, 2015 : National Drought Information Analysis Center opened (K-water)
- Feb 24, 2016 : National drought forecast and warning plan finalized by the 3rd Water Management Council
- Mar~Dec 2016 : National drought forecast and warning system test operation (March 10, 2016)
- Jan 2017 ~ present : National drought forecast and warning system launched
