SWM : Smart Water Management

This study was monitored to analyze the water quality characteristics in the freshwater area of ??the Nakdong River Estuary from January 2001 to October 2021. Among them, the construction of multi-functional weirs and dredging works were carried out in the upstream area from 2009 to 2012. Generally, water quality reflected seasonality. The temporal variability events were mainly caused by hydrometeorological or anthropogenic factors. Among various environmental factors, the mean and maximum values ??of chlorophyll-a concentration were reduced by 40% and 44%, respectively, compared to the past before weirs was installed. These results were not independent of changes in the availability dynamics of aquatic nutrients. In other words, the change in water fertility in the estuary could be considered as a factor. This was also noticeable in the species composition and cell density of phytoplankton, which was found to be undergoing gradual change even now.
