From December 8 to 19, 2025, K-water Academy successfully concluded the third and final batch of the Training on Smart Water Management Options for the City of Rawalpindi, Pakistan, marking the completion of this invitational training program under the ongoing Technical Assistance (TA) project in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Building on the strong foundation established during the first and second batches, the final program focused on consolidating knowledge, deepening practical application, and reinforcing strategic perspectives for smart urban water management. Participants engaged in an intensive and practice-oriented curriculum designed to translate learning into actionable insights for implementation in Rawalpindi.

The training covered advanced applications of smart water network management, non-revenue water (NRW) reduction strategies, and pipeline asset management, complemented by hands-on exercises, case studies, and field visits to K-water facilities. Through interactive workshops and expert-led discussions, participants had the opportunity to reflect on lessons learned across all three batches, address operational challenges, and explore sustainable solutions tailored to local conditions.

The successful completion of the third batch represents a culminating milestone of this capacity-building initiative, equipping water sector professionals with enhanced technical and managerial competencies to support sustainable urban water services in Rawalpindi. It also underscores the strength of collaboration among K-water Academy, ADB, and Pakistani water institutions, and reaffirms K-water’s commitment to advancing global water sustainability through long-term international partnership and knowledge sharing.

From November 22 to December 3, 2025, K-water Academy successfully completed the second batch of the Training on Smart Water Management Options for the city of Rawalpindi, Pakistan. This program is part of the ongoing technical assistance (TA) project in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and follows the successful delivery of the first batch held in September.

This second batch brought together 11 participants—10 officials from PICIIP, PWASA, and R-WASA, along with 1 representative from ADB Pakistan—further expanding the group of professionals benefiting from this capacity-building initiative. Building on the needs identified during the on-site assessment earlier in the year, K-water Academy once again provided a customized and practice-oriented curriculum that combined theoretical sessions, case studies, hands-on exercises, and field visits.

Participants explored K-water’s advanced smart water network management systems, strategies for reducing non-revenue water (NRW), and practical methods for pipeline network management and leakage detection. Interactive workshops with K-water experts facilitated meaningful exchanges on sector challenges and potential avenues for future cooperation.

The completion of the second batch marks another significant milestone in strengthening technical and managerial capacity for urban water management in Rawalpindi. It also reinforces the growing partnership between Korea and Pakistan in the field of smart water solutions. K-water Academy remains committed to promoting global water sustainability through continued international collaboration and knowledge sharing.

As we wrapped up the 2025 K-water Alumni ReYOUnite & Homecoming Week in Korea, we were honored to reconnect with our distinguished alumni and partners from Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Pakistan. During the week, participants also attended the Korea International Water Week (KIWW), where they engaged with global water experts, explored emerging technologies, and exchanged insights on sustainable water management trends from around the world. The KIWW sessions added tremendous value to the program, deepening both technical understanding and international collaboration. This gathering became a meaningful milestone in strengthening our global network and advancing our shared vision for collaborative water management and education. We were grateful to welcome everyone back to Korea and to build new momentum for the future of the K-Global Platform. Thank you to all participants for an inspiring week of connection, knowledge exchange, and renewed partnership.
